WHAT A LIFE PATH NUMBER IS

In numerology, your life path number comes from your date of birth: add all the digits together, then keep adding the digits of the result until you are down to a single number — except for 11, 22 and 33, which are traditionally left as they are and called master numbers. Each number has a set of traits attached to it, and that is the reading this tool gives you.

THE NUMBERS IN SHORT

WHERE IT COMES FROM

The habit of assigning meaning to numbers is ancient — Pythagoras and his followers treated number as the underlying structure of reality, and similar systems turn up independently in Hebrew, Chinese and Indian traditions. Modern Western numerology was largely assembled in the early twentieth century, which is more recent than most descriptions of it suggest.

READ IT WITH YOUR EYES OPEN

There is no evidence that a birth date predicts personality. The readings work the way horoscopes work: they are broad enough that almost anyone finds something that fits, and we are very good at remembering the hits and forgetting the misses. Worth knowing before you take it seriously.

That said, a description of a "builder" or a "seeker" can be a decent prompt for thinking about how you actually operate. Use it as a mirror, not a map — and never as a reason to make a decision you would not otherwise make.
